How to Find Library Part Parameters for Scheduling in Archicad

Scheduling library part objects in Archicad comes with its own set of obstacles. There is no search for the parameters and the selection list for the parameters is tiny. For objects with a long list of parameters, this can be a daunting manual search. Especially if you don’t know its full name. I’ll show you a small workaround how to find such parameters more easily.

Step-By-Step Guide

The following workaround is still a bit cumbersome, but it works better for me than to search in the small list.

  1. Select an object you want to schedule in your plan and open it as a GDL object with File -> Libraries and Objects -> Open Object… or use Ctrl + Shift + O.
  2. Now click on the Parameters button.
  3. Use the search bar at the top to look for the parameter and remember its Name (fourth column) and maybe also the associated Variable (second column).Annotated Screenshot of the Parameter Window of an GDL Object
  4. Now you can use this information to locate the parameters quicker in the Additional Object Parameters window (sort by Name or Variable).Screenshot of Additional Object Parameters Window

For a single parameter it’s probably not worth to do it like this. But if you need a lot of parameters, you only need to open the object once to collect all necessary names of parameters.
